Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act by attending the Annual Fair Housing Symposium on April 26, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at City Hall. Officials from the City of Bowie and Prince George's County Government will discuss how fair housing strengthens families, communities, businesses and the economy through various programs, designated communities, enforcement actions and a coordinated strategic planning process.
The Fair Housing Act was written into law under Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, and signed by President Lyndon Johnson. The Act prohibits discrimination in housing because of religion, disability, gender, national origin, race or color, or familial status. During the month of April, the City's Office of Grant Development & Administration will host several educational activities related to the rights and obligations under the Act for tenants, landlords and others, including businesses, real estate companies, and homeowner associations.
To RSVP for the Fair Housing Symposium, please send an email including Fair Housing Symposium in the subject line by April 16th.
