[ARCHIVED] Attention Residents Affected by the Kenilworth Water Main Project

Dear Residents of Kenilworth:

The City of Bowie has contracted with J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. to replace and/or structurally line approximately 1.7 miles of water mains located in the Kenilworth neighborhood.  Construction on this project began March 20, 2023. Due to the expedited construction sequence, this project is currently expected to be completed by July 21, 2023, which is months ahead of the original schedule.

During construction, temporary water bypass was installed along the curbside to provide continued water service to your home. Your existing water meter was temporarily removed to facilitate bypass installation and flushing of the servicer connection after completion of water main lining. This temporary removal of the meter will also prevent accidental damage to the meter during construction. After the newly lined water main is tested and placed back in service, your existing meter will be reinstalled.

As a result of this temporary removal of the meter, your water bill for the entire course of this construction project will be estimated based on your water usage for the same timeframe during the previous year (i.e. from March 2022 to July 2022).

We appreciate your understanding as we work through this important construction project to upgrade the water infrastructure to ensure continued safe drinking water for your community. Should you have any questions about this project, please contact the City’s project manager, Mr. Kui Lin, at 410-948-7948 email kuiLin@kci.com or the Public Works Department at 301-809-2344.
