The 2022 Approved Bowie-Mitchellville and Vicinity Master Plan is a guiding document created by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission through public engagement to address future development in the City of Bowie and surrounding communities. The next phase in the process is to approve the Sectional Map Amendment (SMA), which applies zones specified in the Comprehensive Zoning Chapter of the Master Plan to properties in the plan area. 

A hybrid joint public hearing on the SMA will be held by the Prince George's County District Council and Planning Board on September 27, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. (view public hearing notice). The City's public hearings will be held by the Bowie Advisory Planning Board on September 13, 2022, at 7 p.m. and City Council on September 19, 2022, at 8 p.m. Both City hearings will be in-person at Bowie City Hall.
