We're back! After two long years off due to COVID cancellations, stream cleanup returns on Saturday, April 2 at 9 a.m. On the first Saturday of April each year, (except for 2020 and 2021) dozens of volunteers turn out to help clean streams across the city. Bowie’s volunteer Stream Teams walk along specific stream segments and pick up trash and litter. Our cleanups have removed approximately 15 tons of material that would still be littering Bowie’s streams, the Patuxent River and even the Chesapeake Bay.
This event is a great opportunity for Bowie residents, classes, church groups, and civic associations to experience nature while working to protect Bowie's important natural resources. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are highly encouraged to participate as well. Prince George’s County Public School students can receive service learning hours for participating, and Scouts can receive a Green Bowie patch. We will provide volunteers with all supplies; you just need to have sturdy boots (or shoes), long sleeves, water, and fun!
