International Accreditation of Police Department
For the past several months, the Bowie Police Department has been working toward international accreditation. As part of that process, a team of assessors will be reviewing the department’s policies, procedures, management, operations and support services during the week of June 22nd.
As part of the assessment process, agency employees and members of the Bowie community are encouraged to offer comments to the assessment team regarding the department’s candidacy for accreditation. Due to the current pandemic, the assessment team will receive public comment by several means:
A public session will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Persons interested in participating may log into the session: https://bowie.fyi/CALEA.
If for some reason an individual cannot participate in the public Zoom session, but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, he/she may do so by telephone, mail or email. The public may call (240) 544-5779 or (240) 544-5703 on Tuesday, June 23, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. to offer their comments directly to the CALEA assessors.
Persons wishing to offer written comments may do so by mail or email. Mail should be addressed to:
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.
13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320

Email should be addressed to: calea@calea.org, putting “Bowie PD” in the subject line of the email.
