City of Bowie Hosting Young Adult Job Fair on Saturday, March 24, 2018
BOWIE, Md. (March 9, 2018) – The City of Bowie Gymnasium and Bowie Youth and Family Services are hosting a community employment fair for young adults, ages 16-24, on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 9:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the City Gymnasium. The goal of this job fair is to connect local employers with young adults seeking employment.
Last year's event had over 250 young adults in attendance and more than 15 local employers participated. This year’s confirmed participants to date include the University of Maryland, College Park, Prince George’s County Police Department, Ernest Maier Block Construction, Newk’s Eatery, Chick-fil-A, CMT Services, Inc., Sport Fit, Barnola, LLC, Primerica, Maryland Express Tag & Title, University of Maryland Capital Region Health, Bubbles Productions, J Mart, United States Coast Guard, The Omega Studios’ School of Applied Recording Arts & Sciences, Pho D’Lite Bowie, Watermark Cruises, Bowie Volunteer Fire Department, DRD Pool Service, Inc., Six Flags America, Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department, US Coast Guard, Stanley Steemer, and Chili’s Grill & Bar. More employers are registering every day.
Bowie community employers interested in hiring local youth are invited to register for a table at the event. Registration ends on March 20, 2018 for employers. Tables are free. Space is limited.
Young adults interested in attending the event should pre-register on the website or register upon arrival at the event. Soroptomist International, an organization that promotes the social and economic empowerment of women, will have representatives at the event to assist all young adults with resume building and interview readiness.
To further prepare young adults for meeting employers at the Community Employment Fair for Young Adults, the City and Soroptomist International, will host a seminar on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Bowie Gymnasium. Job seeking young adults will have the opportunity to build their resumes and learn successful interviewing techniques. To attend this workshop, young adults must pre-register for the Community Employment Fair and indicate on the online registration form (at the bottom of the form) that they will be attending the workshop. The workshop is free and open to all young adults. Participants must register in advance.
Employers and youth can register online and view the current list of participating employers at www.cityofbowie.org/jobfair. This event is free for employers and job seeking youth.
