[ARCHIVED] June Jam Skate Competition

June Jam 20167

Bowie Skate Park (Allen Pond Park, 3330 Northview Drive, Bowie, MD)
June 25, 2017
11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Back for a fifth year with even more prize MONEY being offered!

The City of Bowie, with the help of dedicated community volunteer Roger McGraw (and his family and friends), will again host the June Jam Skate Competition at the Bowie Skate Park in Allen Pond Park on Sunday, June 25, 2017 (rain date June 19).
This year, the Advance Division Prize payout has been increased to up to $1,000 winner take all!!

The event will consist of 3 skill divisions; Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. It is each skater’s responsibility to fairly place themselves within an appropriate division; judges will have the authority to move a skater into more competitive division should they feel a skater has unfairly placed themselves in a division so they can easily win. Skaters that have won 1st place in a division in the past, must register for a higher skilled division this year.

Interested competitors should review the 2017 Event Rules before registering to be sure they understand how divisions will be determined and competitions structured. Registration will be handled onsite on the day of the event and will open 45 minutes prior to each division’s first jam session. Registration is $10 for the Beginner & Intermediate categories, and $20 for skaters in the Advanced category, and must be paid in cash. Helmets will be required for Beginner and Intermediate skaters, and are recommended for Advanced skaters (a waiver will need to be signed at time of registration if no helmet is worn).

The emcee for this year’s event will again be none other than Pro Skater AJ Kohn

The talent our skaters possess is extraordinary, and is a testament to what a quality skate park and community support can do to challenge skaters to excel to the highest level their abilities permit. If you don’t skate... please come out as a spectator to support our skaters and be WOW-ed! Word has it that skateboarding may be added to the 2020 Olympics!

Spectators are encouraged to bring folding lawn chairs, as there is limited shaded seating. Sunscreen and water are a must for everyone!
