    A Christmas Carol recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man. A Christmas Carol opens on a bleak, cold Christmas Eve in London, seven years after the death of Jacob Marley. Scrooge dislikes Christmas and refuses a dinner invitation from his nephew Fred—the son of Fan, Scrooge's dead sister.

  2. Breakfast with Santa at the Senior Center

    Seniors, children and everyone in between is invited to a sausage and pancakes breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Bowie Center. Sparks has created another exceptional musical experience, blending innovative arrangements of traditional holiday songs with pulsing rhythms provided by percussionist Janice Vettel. Tickets are on sale at the front desk of the Senior Center beginning November 1. Senior Center concert tickets are $3. Tickets for the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts are $8. BCPA tickets are also available online at www.bowiecenter.org for an additional $1 processing fee.

  15. Saturday Fun With Santa

    Get your photo taken with Santa and enjoy some holiday fun at the Bowie Gym's annual "Saturday Fun With Santa" event on December 14. Children, ages 10 and under, who are accompanied by a parent are welcome to participate. There will be moon bounces, face painting, and a live children's band playing your holiday favorites. Admission to the event is free with a new unwrapped toy per child to be donated to the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Toy Drive or pay $3 per child without a toy.   3. Bowie Advisory Planning Board

    A development of 80 single homes is proposed to be built in the northern part of the city, at the end of Old Laurel Bowie Road (now known as Lloyd Station Road). The Advisory Planning Board will hold a public hearing for a Preliminary Plan #4-19003, Pecan Ridge Subdivision. The plan is a Conservation Subdivision Design that includes 80 single-family detached lots.
