City Works to Close Out Canceled IcePlex Project
Since the City Council voted May 18, 2020 to cancel the new Bowie IcePlex project, city staff members have been working to close out the project and wrap up all outstanding expenses related to the project.

Arts Committee Award Grants 2017-2018
The City of Bowie Arts Committee was allocated $10,000 in the FY18 City Budget to award grants to groups or individuals that provide art experiences for Bowie residents.

Bowie Names New City Manager
The City Council announced today that it has selected Alfred D. Lott to serve as City Manager. He comes to the job with several years experience in government, both at the federal level and the municipal level. Prior to that he spent 22 years with the United States Army.

Bowie Receives Sustainable Maryland Certified Award and is 2016's Sustainability Champion
The City of Bowie was one of 14 Maryland municipalities honored for sustainability efforts at the 2016 Maryland Municipal League Fall Conference. The Sustainable Maryland Certified Awards were presented by the Environmental Finance Center at the University of Maryland, and they announced that Bowie is this year’s Sustainable Maryland “Sustainability Champion”, amassing an impressive 560 points in the Sustainable Maryland Certified program, more than any other community in 2016.

Should there be a Community Garden in the City of Bowie?
Bowie residents are invited to offer their thoughts on the need for a community garden by completing an online survey on the City website (www.cityofbowie.org). The survey, which will be open from November 2 to December 7, 2015, is being conducted to determine the desire of City of Bowie residents to develop garden plots on public land in the City.

The City is about to embark on designing several significant improvements at Allen Pond Park. The first phase will include the addition of permanent restrooms, the replacement of the existing stage, an increase in paved parking spaces and the redesign of the amphitheater lawn area.

Bowie Solar Co-op Selects Contractor
The City of Bowie’s Planning Office and Maryland Sun (a project of Community Power Network) have organized more than 50 Bowie neighbors to go solar together. After a competitive bidding process the group of homeowners has selected Maryland-based Sustainable Energy Systems to install systems for all of the participants. Organized with the help of the City of Bowie’s Planning Office, the collaboration is enabling participating homeowners to install solar panels on their homes at deeply discounted rates.

2014 Fall Flush Schedule (8/2014)
