Street Sweeping
Winter weather and windy conditions can leave streets not looking their best. Leaves, branches and blowing trash often end up on our roadways and after the winter, there is often a residue of salt and sand that has been left behind. Aside from aesthetics, trash, salt and sand on the streets can be washed into the storm drains and ultimately find their way to the Chesapeake Bay.
To combat this, City streets are swept free of dirt and debris between spring and early fall each year. As encouraged by the Maryland Department of Environment, the City added additional sweeping for streets which accumulate higher amounts of trash and debris. Those high priority streets are swept eight time each year (about once per month). All other streets are swept four times each year, which amounts to once every eight weeks.
When sweeping is scheduled for your neighborhood, (or on the high priority streets), please refrain from parking on the streets between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. View the street sweeping schedule at the link to the below. Also, please note that the sweeping schedule may change due to weather conditions or equipment repair. Any necessary schedule changes will be posted on this page.
