The Parks and Grounds Division of the City of Bowie Community Services Department is responsible for maintenance of City-owned property. This includes a network of parks and recreational facilities, right-of-ways, and beautification areas. There are also 1,100 acres of park land, eight playgrounds, ten ball field complexes, one skate park, and one dog park.
Parks and Grounds staff consists of thirty-two full-time employees, as well as eight to ten temporary laborers employed from April to November, and assigned to various projects. The Fiscal Year 2020 Adopted Budget for Parks and Grounds is $3.4 million and represents 6.55% of city expenditures.
