Ham's Shadow

Ham's Shadow

hams Shadow.jpgThe City of Bowie's first piece of public art was Ham's Shadow, a metal sculpture of a horse and its shadow, that is located in Sussex Park along Route 450 across from Bowie High School.

The piece was commissioned by the Arts Committee in 2001 and completed in the summer of 2002. The artist is Donna McCullough, a local artist. As a small child, McCullough attended horse races at the Bowie Race Track with her grandfather and Ham Sandwich, one of the horses she saw run in the races, was the inspiration for her metal horses.
