Responsibilities
The City is responsible for the maintenance of most street lights in Bowie and has hired a contractor to perform the repairs.
Report a Street Light Outage
To report a street light outage or malfunction, please use our 24-hour service request system.
Or, if you'd prefer, you can also contact the Street Light Specialist in the Public Works Department, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 240-544-5686 or email. If calling outside of these hours, please leave a detailed voice mail message and call back number.
Please be able to provide the following information:
- The address nearest the pole
- The pole number (found about five feet up the pole)
Damaged Poles
If a pole is knocked down or damaged, please contact our Street Light Specialist at 240-544-5686 during business hours listed above or send an email. If you are reporting a downed or damaged pole after hours or on weekends, please call 240-544-5700 so that the problem can be addressed as quickly as possible.
Exception: Wooden poles are maintained by BGE and must be reported directly to the company for repair. Call 800-685-0123 or visit their website or let us know and we'll do it for you.
