Workforce Training Program

Free Workforce Training Program for Young Adults



The City of Bowie Office of Grant Development and Administration, in conjunction with Bowie Youth and Family Services, offers residents a free Workforce Development and Life Skills Training Program for youth and young adults between the ages of 15 and 25. The program provides free workforce readiness training, which includes a portion on life skills and another on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) career paths.

Online Information Forums



Two live information forums will be hosted online on Wednesday, February 10 and Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 7 p.m.

NOTE: Both forums will cover the same information; it is not necessary to attend both.

Application Process



The application period for the 2021 program is February 1, 2021 - March 19, 2021. Classes will take place online in April and May 2021. 

To apply, please fill out this form. If you are under the age of 18, please make sure your parent or guardian signs and returns the parental consent form either with the application or emails it to worktraining@cityofbowie.org 

Once your application is submitted, you will receive an email to schedule a telephone in-take interview. If you do not receive an email after one business day, please contact the program coordinator, Kay Starr, at 301-809-3009 or email worktraining@cityofbowie.org 

The program is for Bowie residents only. Check your to see if your address is within the City of Bowie

Program Dates



Module 1: Life Skills and STEM Careers

For residents aged 15 - 17, Tuesdays, April 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2021 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
For residents aged 18 - 25, Thursdays, April 8 15, 22, and 29, 2021 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Module 2: Innovation and Entrepreneurship

For residents aged 15 - 17, Tuesdays, May 10 and 18, 2021 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
For residents aged 18 - 25, Thursdays, May 13 and 20, 2021 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
