Street Lights
Responsibilities
The city is responsible for the maintenance of most street lights in Bowie and has hired a contractor to perform the repairs.

Report a Street Light Outage
To report a street light outage or malfunction use our 24-hour service request system.

If you are unable to use our 24-hour service request you may contact the Public Works Department Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 301-809-2332. If you call after hours please leave a detailed voice mail message and call back number.

Please be able to provide the following information:
  • The address nearest the pole
  • The pole number (found about five feet up the pole)

Damaged Poles
If a pole is knocked down or damaged, please call 301-809-2332 during business hours or call 301-262-6200 after hours or on weekends so that the problem can be addressed as quickly as possible.

Exception: Wooden poles are maintained by BGE and must be reported directly to the company for repair. Call 800-685-0123 or visit their website.
