  1. Primary Election Early Voting

    June 14, 2018 - June 21, 2018

    Maryland’s Primary Election is Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Voters can vote on Election Day or they can take advantage of early voting, which runs from June 14 - 21, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The City of Bowie Municipal Gymnasium, located at 4100 Northview Drive, is one of eleven early voting locations in Prince George’s County. If you have questions about voter registration, absentee balloting, or early voting for the Primary or General Election, please contact the County Board of Elections at 301-341-7300.

  6. Community Shredding and Styrofoam Recycling Event

    June 23, 2018, 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Bowie High School Parking Lot

    Residents can safely dispose of old bank statements, tax returns, credit card applications and other personal documents they no longer need at Bowie’s Community Shredding Event on Saturday June 23, 2018, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot at Bowie High School. At the same event, hard Styrofoam of the type used in the packaging of electronics will also be collected and recycled. This popular and free event provides an opportunity to get rid of documents that may be of a sensitive nature that people just don’t want to throw away or recycle. Residents can just drive through and drop off their papers or they can park and watch while their items are shredded. Up to five kitchen sized trash bags or five boxes will be accepted per carload. There is no need to remove paper clips or staples from the documents. Styrofoam must be free of tape and glue.

  7. 7th Annual Certified Habitat Tour

    The Green Team Gardens for Wildlife group will host the 7th Annual Certified Habitat Tour on June 23, 2018. Visit sites in Bowie that have been certified by the National Wildlife Federation to learn how your neighbors welcome birds, butterflies, and other wildlife to their yards. This year’s tour features the Senior Center Monarch waystation, Holy Trinity Episcopal School garden, the Centennial Park Monarch waystation, and the community garden at the Food Pantry (Kenhill Center).     Our annual Farmers' Market, which operates every Sunday between May 20 and October 28, is now open! Market visitors will find a broad selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, breads and baked goods, jams and jellies, cuts of beef and goat meat, ice cream, fresh cut flowers, and bedding plants. The participating vendors maintain a Facebook page where you can find the latest information about their offerings.

    Bring your blankets or lawn chairs and join us for an R&B performance at Robert V. Setera Amphitheater by The Young Senators Reloaded. *Concerts are canceled in the case of inclement weather.   13. All You Ever Wanted To Know About Asian Tiger Mosquitoes

    A Hands-On Workshop Presented by Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) Mosquito Control staff from MDA will be presenting 2 workshops (in Annapolis & College Park) about the Asian tiger mosquito, our imported container-breeding mosquito. It is our #1 pest species in much of the State, and is very difficult to control due to its habits & habitats. You will learn about: general mosquito life cycle with examples under a microscope; mosquito habitat & habits; in-depth exploration of containers used by Asian tiger mosquitoes & much more.
