City of Bowie Election Information

District 2 Special Election - March 12, 2018

There will be a Special Election on Monday, March 12, 2018 to fill the vacancy in the District 2 seat.  The vacancy was created by the recall of Councilmember Diane Polangin. The successful candidate will serve in office until the next regular City election in November 2019.

Important Dates for Special Election

  • District 2 Special Election Day - Monday, March 12, 2018 (Polls open 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.)
  • Candidate Filing Deadline - Friday, February 9, 2018 at 5 p.m.
  • Voter Registration Deadline - Friday, February 9, 2018 at 5 p.m.
  • Last Day to Apply for Absentee Ballot - Friday, March 9, 2018 at 5 p.m.

Regular Election

The City of Bowie holds an election every four years. The next City election will be in November 2019.  The offices of Mayor and six Councilmembers will be up for election.

Voting in City Elections

Only those individuals who permanently reside within the corporate limits of the City of Bowie may vote in city elections. Voters registered with the Prince George's County Board of Elections at a City of Bowie address are automatically registered for city elections.

Residents who are registered voters can file for elected office in the Office of the City Clerk.
